Is Money the Root of All Evil?

Is Money the Root of All Evil?

Money is the Root of All Evil is a common phrase most of us have heard throughout our lives and have been conditioned with since we were children.  We’ve heard this saying countless times and to many of us the idea has become affixed in our subconscious mind and thus become a belief.

But is money the root of all evil?  Where did this come from?  Can money which has no feeling or emotion be evil?  Can it be anything?

For many of us, maybe you, this idea has become a major hang up as we strive for success in network marketing.  Not long ago one of our readers, Jonathan, out of the UK, sent me this message.

“Hi Ed, I have a hang up about money, is it really the route of all evil?  I enjoy the things it buys but want to do more for charity.”

This hang up about money has held too many of us back.  So, in attempt to shed some light on this idea I will share with you what I have learned from my studies in personal growth, wealth and success from my mentors on this subject.

First off the phrase actually comes from the Bible in the New Testament: 1 Timothy 6:10.  Depending on which version you read it may vary a bit, however of the sixteen versions I researched, they all say:

For the love of money is the root of all evil”

See, people seem to forget, or not know, that the phrase starts with “For the love of”.  That changes our perception a bit doesn’t it.  Now that we know that it’s not money that’s evil but, the love of money that is evil, we can release that belief and move forward, right?

Not so fast.

Many will still have hang-ups with money because this is a deeply ingrained belief.  So what we need to do is really take a look at what money is and what it’s used for.

We need to look at money as a servant and us as its master.  We should use money and love people, never the other way around.  Money, if we really think about it, is meant for two things:

 #1: To make us comfortable.

#2: To allow us to render service and value far beyond or own physical means.

Money has no emotion or feeling.  It is not good or bad.  It won’t change you as a person, however it will magnify the person you already are.  Money has the amazing ability to reveal ones character.  If you’re a rude, stingy, selfish person, money will expose those traits and magnify them.

On the other hand, if you are a kind, loving, and generous person, just think about what you’ll be able to do when you have money as your servant.  If you want to give to charities and help the poor, it’s very hard to do when you’re one of them.

So, is “Money the Root of All Evil” I think not.  Money is merely a reward for service and value rendered.  If you want more money then simply look at ways you can provide more service and value to others and open the flood gates and let the money flow.

Today You’re Going to Get Irritated

I think it’s safe to say that…

Today you’re going to get irritated, however the question that needs to be asked is are you going react or  respond to that irritation.

Are you going to focus your energy on the problem or are you going to focus on the possibilities?  Here’s a story I found in some of my old papers the other day.  I’m not sure where it’s from but, at any rate it will help you to focus correctly.

“A grain of sand finds it’s way inside the shell of an oyster.  The intruder, though microscopic in size, is a source of irritation and pain to the soft body of the oyster.  Unable to rid itself of the unwelcome pebble, the oyster seeks to reduce the irritation by coating it with layers of soft, iridescent Mother of Pearl material from it’s shell.  Over time the oyster transforms a painful irritation into a beautiful pearl of great value.”

So, I my question to you is are you going to concentrate on the pain or possibilities?  Are you going to focus on the pebble or the pearl?  Transform potential breakdowns into breakthroughs and persist as the oyster does until you succeed.
